The pub has a lovely garden, but there are some accessibility issues that need to be addressed. The path to the garden is too narrow for a wheelchair or anyone with mobility issues, and it is surrounded by loose stones that make it difficult to navigate. There are also two large tables under a canopy outside that are surrounded by stones, making them inaccessible to people with mobility issues.
The staff were very accommodating with my booking, and they allowed my assistance dog into the garden. However, some staff questioned having her in the restaurant, but when I stated that she is a working dog, they quickly allowed her in.
I was unable to access the toilets as they were inside and I was unable to get inside due to the size of my chair.
Internal
I must admit that I was a bit concerned about the accessibility of the interior, having already seen the entrance. However, when I inquired about an accessible entrance, the side door was kindly opened for me. We were seated in the bar area as, although some parts of the restaurant are level-entry, the space is quite small and cramped, making the bar more comfortable for a wheelchair user. Regrettably, there is no accessible restroom, and the only restrooms available are cubicles that can only be reached via steps. While this was not a problem for me personally, it could be a challenge for others. It’s worth noting that my assistance dog was permitted in the bar area, as there were other dogs present, but I’m not certain about the policy regarding dogs in the restaurant.
